Former President Bill Clinton says, ‘Clean Your HVAC System’

Okay, Clinton did not say that directly, but he did say it indirectly by promoting his ‘Green Building Program. It is no secret that an HVAC system which is operating properly will consume less energy than one that is old, dirty or not tuned-up.

All manufacturers recommend having your furnace and air conditioning system cleaned, serviced and inspected on a yearly basis. Manufaturers recommend this partly to save on equipment as well as to ensure they are running as efficiently as possible.

If manufacturers promote furnace and air conditioning cleaning and former presidents do too, there might be something to it. Consider having your heating system and air ducts cleaned on a regular basis. After all furnace cleaning often necessary to keep warranties intact.

…Can fixing energy-wasting buildings stave off global instability? Former president Bill Clinton thinks so. In the biggest project his foundation has taken on since securing a supply of cheap generic AIDS drugs for third world countries, Clinton has brokered a $5 billion effort to finance the retrofit of old buildings in 16 cities around the world.

The project, which Clinton announced at a climate conference in Manhattan yesterday, creates a financing and labor pool to replace energy-hogging light fixtures, as well as install better building insulation and more efficient HVAC systems…
